Reduce Speed Limits in Kananaskis to Prevent Animal Collisions

Reduce Speed Limits in Kananaskis to Prevent Animal Collisions
The Issue
As a huge animal advocate, I am deeply concerned about the increasing number of animal collisions in Kananaskis.
After the recent heartbreaking incident with Nakoda the white rare bear and her cubs dying after being struck by a vehicle. Every year, countless animals lose their lives due to vehicles traveling at high speeds through this beautiful region. These tragic incidents not only harm wildlife but also pose significant risks to drivers and passengers.
Reducing speed limits in key areas can greatly decrease the likelihood of these accidents. Studies have shown that lower speeds give drivers more time to react, significantly reducing collision rates (Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). By implementing stricter speed regulations, we can protect both our precious wildlife and our community members.
Please join me in urging local authorities to take immediate action by signing this petition. Together, we can make Kananaskis safer for everyone.
