In the warm summer months, our quiet community from Neilly Road to Shore Acres Drive transforms. The rise in traffic has become alarmingly noticeable, and sadly, the once safe paths are now fraught with danger. I witnessed this firsthand when my grandson, carefree and playful like any child should be, chased his ball and narrowly missed being struck by a car speeding down the lane.

This unsettling incident is just one of many. With no sidewalks to protect pedestrians, people on foot are forced into the road, sharing space with vehicles that are often driven without regard for the local speed limits or safety.

We cannot wait for an accident to show us how pressing this issue is. By reducing the speed limit to 40km between Neily and the lake on Shore Acres Drive, we can take meaningful action to protect our residents, particularly our children, who should never have to fear for their safety while enjoying a day outside.
