The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, community groups and users of Cornton Community Centre, call on Stirling Council to reduce the cost of hiring rooms for short periods of a few hours.

Cornton Community Centre is an important local facility where people can come together, hold meetings, organise activities, celebrate special occasions and build stronger community relationships.

However, the cost of hiring a room, even for just a few hours, can be too expensive for local residents and small community groups. High hire charges may prevent people from using a facility that is intended to serve the local community.

We believe that Cornton Community Centre should be accessible and affordable to everyone.

We therefore ask Stirling Council to:

 1. Reduce hourly room-hire charges for local residents and community groups.

 2. Introduce a lower-cost rate for bookings of two or three hours.

 3. Consider concessionary rates for pensioners, voluntary organisations and community activities.

 4. Review the current hire charges in consultation with local residents and regular users of Cornton Community Centre.

 5. Publish a clear breakdown of the room-hire charges and explain how the prices are decided.

 6. Consider offering reduced rates for regular bookings and activities that benefit the local community.

We understand that community centres have running costs, but fair and affordable prices would encourage more people to use Cornton Community Centre and help ensure that it remains a valuable resource for local people.

We respectfully ask Stirling Council to review its pricing policy and make hiring a room at Cornton Community Centre for a few hours affordable for the people it serves.

Please sign this petition to support fairer and more affordable community centre hire charges.
