I am a wildlife rehabilitator in the capital district of New York. We have lost almost all volunteers certified to take raccoons as the laws are so strict. Now we have no choice but to turn away public inquiry when calls come in about orphaned baby raccoons. There is no place for them to go but alone in the woods to die.

The current regulations make it nearly impossible for qualified individuals to help these vulnerable animals, leading to unnecessary suffering and death. By easing these restrictions, we can ensure that more trained volunteers can step up and provide the care that baby raccoons desperately need.
