As parents in the UK, we understand the distress and fear caused by the fines and unexpected home visits enforcing school attendance. Having feeling caught in a relentless cycle, we've experienced a breakdown in relationships within our families and with our schools, leading to a feeling of disconnect and disunity in our communities.

Rather than feeling valued, considered, and included, our children are pressured into conforming to flawed attendance policies that disregard their needs. Improved attendance can be achieved through nurturing a more responsive and caring school environment, rather than resorting to punitive measures that strain family bonds and resources.

We urge the UK educational authorities to reconsider and invest in more supportive strategies that promote the well-being and inclusivity of all pupils.
