I am a regular visitor to the beaches in San Francisco, and it disheartens me to see the amount of trash that gets left behind, ruining our beautiful public spaces and endangering marine life. There is a critical need for change. We need to recognize that our oceans are home to more than 200,000 known species, and up to 2 million unknown ones, many of which are affected by plastic pollution (Source: National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration). By signing this petition, we are not merely voicing concerns, but demanding action. We want lawmakers to dedicate funds to material resources and personnel for comprehensive beach clean-up efforts. Increased provision of trashcans near beaches could significantly reduce the instances of littering. By implementing these changes, we can continue to enjoy our beach visits without compromising the well-being of our aquatic friends.
