Our home, Greenville County, is a place cherished not just by a few, but by all its residents. Yet, under the vibrant growth and prosperity, a concerning issue lurks: homelessness. Our community, unfortunately, is not immune to this issue, and it is a situation that touches hearts deeply, as it could be anyone in this challenging situation. 

In 2018, a Point-in-Time Count in South Carolina identified 3,933 individuals experiencing homelessness on a single night, and a significant portion of those were in Greenville County ("South Carolina Coalition for the Homeless, 2018"). To allow this in a county as prosperous as ours is not acceptable.

We must rally together to reduce the number of these heartbreaking scenarios among us. By addressing this issue, we not only uplift those who need it most, but we also improve the overall quality of life in our great county.

This petition calls on local lawmakers and authorities to address this urgent issue, to identify and execute action plans for homelessness reduction, and to invest in the support of relevant local charities and organizations. Let's create a Greenville County where everyone has access to the basic need of shelter.
