The Issue

Hello!

My name is Adriano Menezes, I am writing this petition on behalf of the Senior Class at West Boca Raton Community High School. Our school has recently made some drastic changes that have caused a great deal of concern among students and parents alike. Due to allegedly 'low' enrollment, the administration has decided to release efficient and essential staff, impacting the quality of our educational experience. But what's more alarming to us now, are the newly imposed parking fees, which have skyrocketed from a reasonable $80 to an astonishing $200.

We relied on the previous fee of $80, which most of us had budgeted for as part of our school expenses. Suddenly facing an increase of 150%, with no adequate reason or explanation from the school administration, has left many of us scrambling for solutions. This fee does not even account for the additional cost of personalizing our parking spots, which many of us participate in as part of our school tradition.

For many of us, this price hike could mean the inability to afford parking at our own school. It feels as if we are being penalized for wanting to drive to school, an essential mode of transportation in an area with limited public transport options.

The abrupt increase seems exorbitant and lacks transparency. Why should our cohort bear the brunt of an administrative decision that hasn’t been justified or explained with clarity? We urge the school administration to revert to the original $80 parking fee and to provide transparency regarding any future changes.

Our demand is simple yet crucial: make high school accessible and affordable, especially when it comes down to necessary facilities like parking. We call upon students, parents, alumni, and community members to support us in this call for fairness and reasonable pricing.

Please sign our petition to help us reach the administrative bodies responsible and ensure that they take appropriate action to rectify this situation. Together, let's make a change for everyone at West Boca Raton Community High School. Thank you for your support.
