The Issue

I'm writing this petition out of deep concern and frustration. Day by day, I observe that while American politicians strive to address humanitarian issues globally, our own citizens are being neglected. Every year, billions of U.S. dollars are allocated towards foreign aid, aimed at alleviating challenges in other nations. Yet, here at home, many of our communities continue to grapple with poverty, inadequate healthcare, homelessness, education deficits, and infrastructure decay.

According to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the United States committed approximately $51 billion in foreign aid in 2020 alone. This immense sum, if redirected or reduced, could significantly improve our domestic landscape. Nearly 34 million Americans, including 9 million children, currently live below the poverty line. Our healthcare system struggles under the weight of underfunded sectors, and countless families rely on food banks to make ends meet.

Our schools, which are supposed to be beacons of learning and opportunity, are suffering from budget cuts, outdated materials, and facilities in disrepair. Infrastructure, from bridges to transportation systems, is crumbling in many parts of the country. The problem is clear: we must prioritize resources that fulfill the needs of our own citizens first.

This petition calls for a reassessment of the allocation of foreign aid. We propose a reduction and strategic reallocation of funds to focus on domestic issues, ensuring that Americans have access to the essential services they need. Such a shift does not imply isolationism; rather, it reflects a balanced approach where we handle global responsibilities while also strengthening our communities at home.

Let's hold our politicians accountable for the oath they make to represent and serve their constituents. Join me in urging Congress to re-evaluate our spending priorities, cut back on excessive foreign aid, and re-invest in America. By signing this petition, you're standing up for a policy that addresses the immediate needs of our citizens, protecting their right to a better quality of life.
