In recent times, my experience as a student in the National University of Bangladesh has been overshadowed by the overwhelming financial burden imposed by the excessive form fill-up fees for the two-year LLB Professional course. These exorbitant fees, which are charged four times, are placing immense stress on students like myself, many of whom are struggling to fulfill even their basic educational expenditures.

The goal of higher education is to enable students to pursue knowledge without the crippling fear of endless financial demands. Unfortunately, the current fee structure for the LLB program does not reflect this ethos. This heavy financial requirement not only hinders our academic progress but also places an unfair barrier for students aspiring to enter the legal profession.

The excessive fees do not correspond to any additional benefits or resources being offered to students. In fact, these fees are disproportionately higher compared to similar programs in other universities across Bangladesh and even South Asia, creating inequity and unnecessary strain on students and their families.

Research has consistently highlighted the importance of accessible education systems to foster capable and productive graduates who can significantly contribute to society. Understanding this, we urgently call for a review and reduction of the form fill-up fees by the authorities of the National University of Bangladesh. This action would demonstrate a commitment to equitable access to education and relieve students of undue financial pressure.

We propose that the university conducts a thorough assessment of the current fee structure in comparison to regional standards, and initiate a dialog with student representatives to formulate a more affordable fee policy. This will not only benefit current students, but also future generations seeking opportunities in the legal field.
