Elephants are big land mammals and they remain still roaming the earth after five million years their intelligence and close family bonds have enabled them to survive the planets greatest natural disasters today however the elephants are on the verge of being wiped out by humans. In Uganda, Elephants are mostly found in the landscapes of Kidepo, Murchison-Semliki, and the Greater Virunga Landscape.

With a very low reproduction rate (one calf per female every 8.6 years), elephant populations recover more slowly than many other animals, with a maximum annual population growth of about 6%. Six decades ago, 6,000 elephants roamed Uganda’s landscapes and human conflict and poaching reduced the numbers and made a huge difference.

The main reason for this poaching is for the ivory which includes other reasons. The tusks of the elephants are made of ivory and this is a really hard and expensive material and elephants are killed to get this precious material. China is the biggest in this ivory business and there should be some bans globally and locally among countries that are involved in this.

This petition is about the poaching of the elephants throughout the landscapes of Uganda and I personally think that this should be reduced and to do so, we need to take action against this and show the by standers what is happening around them. Sign this petition if you would like to make a difference and help these poor creatures.
