We, the residents and commuters of Hulu Langat, Semenyih, Mahkota Cheras, Sungai Long, and Ampang, call upon our elected representatives — Y.B. Tuan Mohd Sany bin Hamzan (MP Hulu Langat), Y.B. Tuan Cheong Kian Young (ADUN Balakong), Y.B. Tuan Ong Chun Wei (ADUN Teratai), Y.B. Tuan Yew Jia Haur (ADUN Dusun Tua), and Y.B. Datuk Wira Johan Bin Abd Aziz (ADUN) — to urgently review the toll fees of the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE).
The EKVE was built to ease traffic congestion on the Cheras–Kajang Highway, but its toll rates are among the highest in Klang Valley when measured per kilometer.
EKVE: RM0.35–RM0.40/km
PLUS Highway: RM0.12/km
Cheras–Kajang Highway: RM0.11/km
SPRINT Highway: RM0.09/km
KESAS Highway: RM0.07/km
This disparity discourages usage, undermines EKVE’s purpose, and burdens daily commuters.
Why This Matters
Traffic Relief: Lower tolls will encourage EKVE usage, reducing congestion on Cheras–Kajang Highway.
Economic Boost: Affordable tolls improve accessibility, benefiting local businesses and residents.
Fairness: Communities in Hulu Langat, Semenyih, Mahkota Cheras, Sungai Long, and Ampang deserve equitable toll rates.
Our Request
We respectfully urge the government and highway authorities to revise EKVE toll fees to a reasonable rate by 2026, ensuring the expressway truly serves the people.
