The issue currently is that we are on track to be in danger of permanent climate change effects by 2030 if nothing changes. I'm starting this petition because I would like to advocate for change in our world. The more people that can reduce their carbon footprint and use cleaner energy, the better. According to What is renewable energy – powering a safer future, the fossil fuel industry in 2030 is projected to have 0 jobs in it making the unemployment problem even larger. And, to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, emissions must be reduced by almost half by 2030, and reach net-zero by 2050. Finally, in the article Climate Change in the Northeast U.S. Shelf Ecosystem, since the early migration is linked to the warming temperatures, early migration would stop and more animals, even in the Long Island Sound, would return and stay for longer. If you really want to help with my cause there is something more you can do.  One thing that is simple enough to reduce is your energy consumption. It's as simple as that. Some examples are LED lights, optimizing thermostats, or reducing shower times are all helpful for both you and the environment saving you money and saving the world in the long term. Even just a 2-week challenge of doing these is a big help on its own. If you want to take it a step further, there is a company named Smart Energy LLC which is essentially a net-zero waste company that is extremely easy to connect to taking only a few minutes on average.
