There are many responsible dog owners in the Redlands who regularly walk their dogs as they know it is important to a dog's well being. It was ok to walk your dog from Wellington Point out to King Island (A sandbank at low tide) from Monday to Friday (not on weekends and public holidays). This was acceptable to dog owners and residents and obviously a real treat for a dog. The Redland City Council has recently changed the rules to allow dogs on the beach Monday to Sunday but only if they are kept on a leash at all times. I believe this is unfair on all the dogs and their owners who have used this "special place" to allow their dogs to roam freely and safely over the sand bank and dipping in for a swim along the way. It appears to me that it is just another way to catch people (doing the right thing by taking their dogs for a walk) and fine them. Yes revenue raising. I petition that the off-leash beach area at Wellington Point be reinstated Monday to Friday.
