Firstly, thank you to the 2,800+ amazing people who signed the petition to look out for our vulnerable islanders who are left without parking. It is through your support that we managed to get a meeting with Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and Transport Main Roads (TMR) the other week. Sadly, Redland City Council did not join the meeting so I ask that you keep sharing the petition with friends and family so that the council can't keep ignoring us.
Here's a quick link to help you in sharing the petition: https://www.change.org/p/redland-bay-islanders-need-parking-and-council-plans-to-make-it-worse/psf/share
Over 2,800 signatures!! Amazing! And well beyond what the council plans to offer in parking with even their best numbers. Hear us, council, we need parking!
I want to say 'Thank you' to EDQ and TMR for sitting down and hearing about the current and future situations that islanders find themselves in, with regards to our parking. They appeared empathetic and listened to our concerns. We look forward to future updates soon.
As we mentioned previously, Redland City Council did not attend the meeting - which is sad. It is for this reason I ask that you keep sharing this petition with friends and family and to not allow this situation to rest nor give Redland City Council any merit to the thought that we might give up. We won't be giving up our fight for a fair go. We won't be giving up a chance to ensure our vulnerable are treated with dignity. We won't let down our hard-working community who need that parking for their work and their families.
So please, join us in sharing the petition and reminding the council that we won't be silenced, not when it's so critical to our community's future.
