Yesterday was a big day, we hit 1,200 signatures (the same number as added car spaces council exclaims - it's not though!) and we also were mentioned in QLD state parliament as a travesty of mismanagement by the council! Share the petition with friends and family so the council can't ignore us anymore!
Yesterday we hit our goal milestone of 1,200 signatures - thank you! This number not only represents the best number that the council tries to spin to us regarding car parks being added under their proposed plan but the number represents YOU. You are the people who have risen up and said to Redland City Council that it's not enough. That the parking situation is not fit for our islanders, our elderly, our disabled nor our vulnerable. We NEED parking that serves the growing needs of the islands and it needs to be accessible and affordable.
The travesty of mismanagement by Redland City Council united both parties in the Queensland State Government yesterday when Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Jarrod Bleijie (LNP) addressed parliament expressing concerns over the development. Jarrod talked about taking a tour of the area with local members to see the chaos of the parking situation as it currently is and understood that the future developments were inadequate for the people. Kim Richards (ALP), member for Redlands, agreed with Jarrod that the Redland City Council had conducted the PDA poorly. (See the video here)
We want to thank Jarrod for taking time out of his busy schedule to tour the area with us and to understand our plight.
Queensland parliament is abuzz with how Redland City Council has been poorly managing the development of this carpark. 1,200+ of you have spoken out to the council to say that they need to do better. Now let's make that number even larger so that Redland City Council can't sweep us under the rug.
Please share this petition so we can get as many people aware that the council isn't looking after its people. If you know someone on the island, tell them about this carpark. If you have friends and family on the mainland, tell them about this carpark. If you know of essential services that islanders need, tell them about this carpark.
This is a special link that will allow you to easily share the petition wherever you need it to go. Send it to everyone and anyone that you can who might sign so that Redland City Council can't keep ignoring us. We will not be pushed aside, Redland City Council!
