Redirect Northiam Parish Council's Donsmead Estate Funds Towards Park Improvements

Redirect Northiam Parish Council's Donsmead Estate Funds Towards Park Improvements
The Issue
We, the residents of Northiam, Rye, UK, are deeply concerned about the allocation of funds from the Donsmead estate. The current proposal to invest £160,000 in a sports pavilion is commendable but overlooks more pressing needs within our community. Our local park and playground are in dire need of an update and improvement. Furthermore, there is a lack of shaded areas which makes it difficult for families to enjoy the park during hot summer days.
We propose that part or all of these funds be redirected towards improving our park facilities. This would include updating the playground equipment to ensure safety and accessibility for all children - including those with disabilities by adding ramps where necessary - as well as creating shaded areas for families to enjoy throughout the year.Additionally, it would be great if you could consider adding a ramp for skateboarding, skates, scooters and bikes. This will ensure that the park is accessible to everyone, regardless of their interests and abilities.
Investing in our parks will not only improve quality of life for current residents but also attract new families to our area. According to research by Fields in Trust (2018), parks contribute significantly towards health and wellbeing within communities.
We urge Northiam Parish Council to consider this proposal seriously and allocate funding appropriately based on community needs rather than singular projects. Please sign this petition if you agree that investing in our local park should be a priority.
