As a resident of Benbrook, TX, I have personally witnessed the tremendous growth and popularity of pickleball in our community. It brings me and many others great joy to see people of all ages and skill levels coming together to enjoy this exciting sport.

The existing four pickleball courts are filled during peak times (morning and evening) seven days a week. It is not uncommon to find 4-12 people waiting in line, and this has been during the hot summer. This situation not only limits access for enthusiasts but also discourages potential newcomers from trying out this fantastic sport.

While the YMCA offers some pickleball court times, their availability is limited and does not adequately meet the increasing demand in our community.

We propose to convert the two tennis courts into 6 pickleball courts, namely the southern tennis court off of Creekside Drive. This involves removing the 2 tennis nets, resurfacing the court, installing 6 permanent pickleball nets and painting the lines, and installing divider fencing between the pickleball courts.

To support our petition's credibility, let us consider some relevant facts:

1) Growing Popularity: According to recent surveys conducted by USA Pickleball Association (USAPA), participation rates in pickleball have been steadily increasing across all age groups nationwide.
2) Local Demand: The high usage rate and waitlist observed at Benbrook's current pickleball courts clearly indicate the strong demand for permanent nets, and turning 4 into 6. 
3) Community Growth: Benbrook itself has experienced significant population growth in recent years, making it crucial to accommodate the recreational needs of our expanding community.

By signing this petition, you are expressing your support for resurfacing the courts, installing permanent pickleball nets & turning the space from 4 courts into 6. We urge the local authorities and decision-makers to take immediate action in response to our community's needs.
