News
I tried writing this a few times today. I had to stop and go look at something else.
I am sure most of you have already heard by now of the status of SS United States. It has been givien over to Okaloosa County. There is not much more to go into. If you wish to see the paperwork signed you can go to the SSUS Conservancy's facebook page and watch the video.
The ship will be moved to Norfolk for preppping. I advise you to fly out to see her if you are able. Conservancy will post news on departure date.
Petition News
I attempted multiple times to contact both the White House and the Parks Department for the petition. Neither responded. It is both maddening and saddening I could not even get a response to my attempts of communication. Thus the petition is dead. However I will be contacting the Conservancy to see if they would be interested in preserving your text and video comments for a future museum. I will leave this up until the American holiday of Thanksgiving so you all can have an opportunity to place your comments. Afterwards if the Conservancy is willing I will send the data to them. I will update you all if that will be the case.
So what happens next?
Well not very much unfortunately the ship is already being prepped for towing. Okaloosa Commissioners are wasting no time moving their campaign donors gift into the reefing process. There are some groups working on trying to pressure Okaloosa County to change course. Some of you may be interested in joining up with them via discord, reddit and facebook. #NOtoOkaloosaCounty. Here is my discord if you are interested in joining up to fight until we burn down in fire. https://discord.gg/BWe8YeNt
So what can you do? You can call Okaloosa County and voice your displeasure if you like, join up with a group to chat and pressure or post on social media. Or do nothing at all.
Sometimes history wins. But most of the time it loses with our Nation it seems. Nobody wants to reinvest when its more then a few million.
Conclusion
This will be the second to last update. the final update will be after I recieve word from the Conservancy on my suggestion.
Thank you all so much both here in the United States and across this planet of ours. Your Courage to put your name on a public item on the internet is no less than admirable.
I have endured mocking and redicule online for this but I still fight regardless. I hope you do too, even if its not for SS United States anymore.
Cheers,
-Hunter
