Redefine Wickham Surgery's Catchment Boundary for Welborne Development

Redefine Wickham Surgery's Catchment Boundary for Welborne Development
The Issue
Petition for redefining Wickham Surgery’s catchment boundary and limiting the Surgery’s intake from Welborne to the first phase of the development only.
We request that the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) redefine Wickham Surgery’s catchment boundary to include only the first phase of the nearby Welborne development. This boundary change will limit the Surgery’s intake of Welborne Residents to the first 690 homes / c1700 residents only. Welborne is a new development within Fareham Borough Council, which upon completion will be a town larger than Petersfield. We therefore believe that a revised boundary for Wickham Surgery will:
· Protect healthcare and services for existing users of Wickham Surgery.
· Best serve the residents of Welborne, with the new residents receiving health services delivered directly from within the development.
Wickham surgery need this boundary change to protect and safeguard both current and future patient services and without this the current services to existing patients will be threatened. This will affect not only Welborne’s new patients, but Knowle, Wickham and the surrounding areas such as Bishops Waltham, Swanmore, Waltham Chase and Droxford which depend on Wickham surgery to meet their needs. We believe:
· Developments the size of Welborne should have health services for its residents at the centre of its plans and built within the development, agreed to as part of planning consent.
· That current and vulnerable patients to Wickham surgery have close relationships with their nurses, GPs and healthcare providers who know and understand their health needs and provide a local and caring service which is vital to their well-being; we see this being threatened if Wickham’s Surgery boundary is not changed.
· It leaves Wickham Surgery patient care vulnerable and exposed to swelling numbers, and threatens the most vulnerable members of our pre-existing community.
Please sign this petition to protect our local Wickham GP surgery from being left overwhelmed by poor planning and consideration by the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB, with regards to the Welborne development.
