Mise à jour sur la pétitionSave Redbridge Lane West Allotments from CadentRevised Plans Still Threaten Allotments

After nearly nine months of discussions with Redbridge Borough Council, Cadent revealed revised plans to plot holders last week. We are bitterly disappointed with the outcome. They still propose to take around 25% of all plots for a period of two years, and erect a compound that will likely cause severe disruption to around another 25%. Almost certainly, the remaining 50% of plots will face significant disturbance from Cadent's construction activities. In a serious threat to the integrity of our allotments, Cadent say that five plots will be permanently reduced in size to accommodate their new, electrified security fence.

Otherwise - as we've become used to - they were vague on the details on the time-frame of the works, the legal status of their guarantees about returning plots undamaged, and the environmental protections they 'promise'. We've just spent the summer restoring the wildlife pond, with some of our plot holders putting in many days of hard work (see picture above). Cadent's plans put their construction compound right on its boundary. It's heartbreaking.

Yet again, they failed to offer us any clear and convincing explanation as to why it is necessary for their work to cause such devastating disruption. So our campaign goes on. We ask for your continued support - please circulate the news and the petition.
