Catwalk Pets haven't had any "rescue" dogs up for adoption (sale) lately, strange that.
As the investigation by Redbridge Council is still ongoing, we thought we'd publish a list of questions for both them and Catwalk Pets, who claim this is a witch hunt against pet shops. This is simply not true and seems to be another attempt at deceiving the public. You can continue to sell your dog food and other items, just not so-called rescue dogs under false pretences, puppies without their mothers or other sick animals.
Questions for Catwalk Pets
- Where have your "rescue" dogs come from?
- Why do the rescue dogs not have any previous microchip history?
- Why are the rescue dogs all of similar age and exhibit health conditions commonly seen in ex-breeding and stud dogs?
- Why are the rescue dogs health conditions left untreated?
- Why are the rescue dogs not spayed or neutered at minimum, as a legitimate rescue centre would do?
- Where are the rescue dogs being kept?
- Why are the rescue dogs sold in such poor condition for commercial prices (and prices not published until the time of sale)?
- Why do you claim to be a rescue centre whilst breeding and selling dogs from your home? Is this not a conflict of interest?
- Why have you just registered a new limited company breeding business RS DOGS LTD in June 2020?
- Why have lots of puppies been advertised on FreeAds under various names with your owner's breeding license number (45685)?
- Why do you block people from asking legitimate questions on your social channels that you use for marketing purposes?
Any professional business should be able to answer these basic questions in a public statement.
Questions for Redbridge Council
- Why has it taken years of complaints, and national press coverage, for Catwalk Pets to be formally investigated and their commercial license rating be reduced from 5 stars to 1 star?
- Have all previous complaints against Catwalk Pets been logged?
- Will the outcomes of the current and any previous investigations be shared?
- Will the number of breeding dogs a license holder is permitted to keep be published on your Animal Activity Register? (FOI request)
- Will the owner of Catwalk Pets breeding license be reviewed as it is currently held until Dec 2022?
- Will you be holding a council meeting regarding Catwalk Pets and if so, the time and location be published? (So members of the public and press can attend)
We urge signees of this petition to be asking the above questions and continue to share this petition and raise concerns to Redbridge Council and Trading Standards.
Anyone looking to buy a puppy or rehome a rescue dog should go to an official, recognised rescue centre. The Kennel Club website Find a Breeder or Find a Rescue is a good place to start your research.
