Dear Petitioner, I am writing to update you on the latest position of our #WeWantSay petition & campaign against the Council proposed Parking Scheme. We have this morning written to the Leader of the Council, Cllr. Athwal and also Cllr. Canal, Leader for the opposition. Together with paper signatories, our petition currently stands at over 2,500 signatures with a few days still to run. Further to developments last week, we are pleased to announce Cllr. Athwal, Leader of the Council has confirmed the scheme is stopped pending full and detailed consultation. We plan to attend the full council meeting this Thursday to ensure that the Council follows up accordingly on this confirmation, and seek your support by asking to attend the meeting at the Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public. I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you to encourage anyone who supports the campaign but not yet signed the petition to do so as we plan to continue with the campaign until such a time the Council is fully aligned with the community position.
