HALT Wanstead's Parking Restrictions and Charges @WeWantSay

HALT Wanstead's Parking Restrictions and Charges @WeWantSay
The Issue
We, the undersigned, demand proper consultation regarding dramatic parking changes and charges in Wanstead BEFORE they are introduced. We live in a democracy and many of the residents affected by these plans have rejected them twice before. To suddenly impose even far more wide-sweeping change is totally unacceptable.
The changes are said to largely help the high street, but many businesses there are certain they will suffer. It will also affect many other local businesses, make it impossible to run popular fairs in local halls and schools, damage community events, hit community centres, be a financial burden that many people cannot afford at this time, and have other far-reaching consequences. All need to be aired and considered.
Petition start date: 13 December 2016, petition end date: 19 January 2017.
Donna Mizzi - Wanstead Resident & @WeWantSay Action Group
About me:
My name is Donna Mizzi, and I have started this petition as I founded Art Trail Wanstead and Flamingo Fairs as community-building events. I believe these plans will do just the opposite by destroying local fairs, events and other community hubs. I don't want this to be MY campaign – particularly as my hands are very full as a carer. The call for proper consultation and democratic choice can come from your paper petitions, too. You can use my wording if you like. It's vital that these plans are halted now. Some residents do have terrible problems parking. But, I believe other solutions can be found.
In due course I will put further information regarding paper-petition deadlines etc, on my website: flamingofairs.co.uk
