We want all shooting/hunting for Coyotes not to be allowed in public hiking areas
Our beloved husky Mateo was fatally shot 4 times in the Cline Butte recreational area across the street from juniper hiking trails. The man that shot my boy fled to his car and we couldn’t see him or his vehicle because he fled before we could catch up in time. The snow made it also very difficult. We want to raise awareness to this tragedy because this could happen to anyone with dogs or huskies. Hunting in any public area is wrong and dangerous and risks people or even children getting shot. We don’t want anyone to go through the pain and hurt we are going through right now. Also there are many designated hunting areas for people to hunt. It makes no sense to us as to why a public hiking area with trails is legal and allowed to have people coyote hunting and hunting in general in that area. Even if it is legal there should be signs and warnings posted in the hiking area. Our story has also been on the news and there are many many dog lovers in this community that are outraged and are willing to sign a petition to keep everyone safer
