My child, like many others in our community, is facing the painful reality of having to switch schools in the middle of their high school journey due to the recent rezoning plans for the Westfork Subdivision in Smyrna, TN. This is more than just a change of scenery. It's about disrupting their academic routine, being separated from their peers, and even being pulled away from their football community.

The connection to their school is not just an academic one – it is tied to their wellbeing, their communities, and their identities. Studies have shown that moving during a child's high school years can cause significant stress, impacting their emotional wellbeing and academic performance (American Psychological Association, 2012). The rezoning isolates our children from their established social circles at a critical developmental stage and threatens to undermine the continuity of their education.

We ask the Rutherford School System to reconsider this move and evaluate other strategies that ensure academic continuity for our children.
