This petition is about transparency and public involvement, it is not a political statement.  The recent decision by the Hollywood City Commission to approve up to an 82% pay increase, plus precedent setting additional compensation benefits for themselves has raised eyebrows, concerns, and questions among the residents of Hollywood, Florida. 

City commissioner roles are vital, and fair compensation for public service is important. However, this decision was made without adequate public input or debate, leaving many residents feeling excluded from a decision that directly utilizes taxpayer money. In the interest of transparency, accountability, and fairness, we urge the City Commission to reconsider this salary hike and reopen the discussion, ensuring that the voices of our community members are heard and taken into account.

Bringing this conversation back to the public forum will allow for a balanced evaluation of what is reasonable and justified concerning compensation, taking into consideration the current economic climate and the city's budgetary constraints.
