The Issue

The proposed designs for the Welcome Sign, intended to greet visitors and residents alike, fail to capture the essence of our  city. Feedback from countless citizens has  echoed discontent: the proposed designs are uninspiring, bland, and simply do not reflect the true spirit of Aberdeen.

Recent public forums and social media feedback capture a striking consensus. Most comments have marked their displeasure towards the proposed options.

Therefore, we urge the City Council of Aberdeen to reconvene the design selection committee with a new mission: to create an inclusive process that involves local artists, input from diverse community groups, and specialists in urban aesthetics. The town of Aberdeen deserves a sign that is not only a welcoming beacon but also a reflection of its  identity.

Join us in asking our city leaders to pause, listen, and involve their constituents in this crucial decision-making process. The sign at the entrance of our city should be a testament to  unique Aberdeen. Sign this petition to advocate for a Welcome Sign that truly represents Aberdeen, Washington.
