Fathers play a pivotal role in the development and wellbeing of their children. The attachment between fathers and their children contributes significantly to the child's socio-emotional, cognitive, and psychological development. According to a report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, children with involved, caring dads have better educational outcomes and mental health, and are less likely to exhibit delinquency (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2012). Young people who feel a closeness to their father are twice as likely to enter college or find stable employment post-high school (National Fatherhood Initiative, 2013). Moreover, they show fewer signs of depression and are less likely to succumb to risky behaviors. We can no longer overlook or undervalue the essential role that fathers play. Action must be taken to recognise and strengthen the rights and importance of dedicated fathers.
