We are less than 3k away from 25,000 petition supporters Truth!!! We need better resources, education and outreach for #PCOS Polycystic ovary syndrome (#PCOS) is a common condition, present in 12–21% of women of reproductive age according to current statistics and research. It is still estimated up to 70% of women with PCOS remain undiagnosed. Old estimates indicated between 5-10% of women had pcos. This new rise in numbers is cause to take notice, as PCOS is reaching epidemic proportions with still little awareness, diagnosis and understanding of its etiology. Until there is more research and a better universal definition of PCOS, the exact number of women in the United States with PCOS is unknown, but is thought to be approximately 14 million. Most women are diagnosed during their twenties or thirties, but PCOS may affect girls as young as 11 who haven't even had their first period. So how does this pan out in our current communities, states, nationally and worlwide? There are 3,771,607,626 billion females worldwide... New statistics up to 20% with pcos 754,321,525 Old statistics up to 10% with pcos 377,160,763 That's an epidemic! Let's change that by signing the #PcosPetition with the over 22K whom already have.. It's time The National Institutes of Health (NIH) dedicated more than 0.1% funding and resources to support #MILLIONS of women in The United States and worldwide.. Why should the United States be a leader in this fight? NATIONALLY in USA Statistics indicate 166 million females live in US New statistics of up to 20% with pcos = 33.2 million Old statistics of up to 10% with pcos =16.6 million IT IS NOT JUST COSMETIC IT IS NOT JUST REPRODUCTIVE IT IS NOT JUST OBESITY IT IS NOT JUST INFERTILITY IT IS NOT JUST OVERREACTING It is a lifelong chronic condition that if left unchecked leads to some of the biggest causes of death and disability facing women today Precursor to diabetes Precursor to lipid abnormalities Precursor to hypertension 7xs greater risk heart disease 4xs greater risk of stroke 3xs greater risk endometrial cancer 50% chance of #diabetes by age 40 If this doesnt scream WE NEED OUR GOVERNMENT AND LEGISLATORS to take notice, stand up and make #PCOS a health priority...
