The Issue

The Norwich University Boxing Club has proven itself to be a competitive and disciplined organization that develops strong leaders and committed athletes. Our club has already demonstrated excellence on and off the campus:

  • Produced an All-American Boxer — Senior Nick Smollett placed 3rd in the Nation in 2025, showcasing the elite talent and dedication fostered within our program.
  • Achieved Regional Success — Hatem Muhammad, then an RCT and now a Junior, competed in the 2024 New Hampshire Golden Gloves Semi-Finals, representing Norwich with grit and determination.
  • Competed Against Top Programs Across the East Coast — Including West Point, UMASS, Coast Guard Academy, UCONN, Lock Haven, Penn State, and Trinity College, consistently representing Norwich with professionalism and resilience.

Despite our accomplishments, the club continues to operate with minimal funding and limited institutional support. Recognition as an official varsity-level or school-supported program would significantly enhance our ability to:

  • Attend competitions, tournaments, and national events
  • Secure qualified coaching staff
  • Provide safer, higher-quality training environments
  • Continue developing disciplined, capable cadet-athletes who embody Norwich values

We respectfully request that Norwich University formally recognize and support the Norwich University Boxing Club, allowing us to reach our full potential and continue representing the university with pride, discipline, and excellence.
