Dear fellow New Jerseyans,

There are currently two bills in our New Jersey Legislature (one in the General Assembly and one in the Senate) that are being considered. These two bills are almost identical and they aim to officially recognize the Lunar New Year in New Jersey. Given the rise in violence and discrimination towards Asian Americans since the start of the pandemic, officially recognizing Lunar New Year in New Jersey would be a powerful gesture of support and inclusion. This recognition would also acknowledge the cultural diversity and contributions of Asian Americans to New Jersey.
