Last year, thousands of other Muslims, including myself, gave AP exams on Eid, when we should have been celebrating with our family on this memorable holiday. This is one of the various scenarios where Muslims have been forced to choose between missing school or celebrating their religious holiday. Whether it’s making up work or missing big tests, year after year the pattern has not changed. Eid is a Muslim holiday that follows Ramadan every year, and is extremely important to the Muslim population.  As a Muslim myself, I feel that our population, especially in the East Penn School District, is not represented enough, and with other religions being able to receive off it should not be any different for us. Multiple counties and states across the country have already recognized Eid as a local holiday and give off, so why are we not doing the same?
