Recognize Bigfoot as "The Great American Primate"

The Issue

For years, I have been drawn to the captivating mystery and intrigue surrounding Bigfoot. To me, this towering creature represents not only the vast untamed wilderness of our nation but also the unique and compelling mysteries that lie within it. To many, like myself, Bigfoot has become a symbol that lingers in our hearts and minds, quietly personifying the spirit of exploration and wonderment that so deeply reflects America. However, this symbol is not formally recognized. We believe that naming Bigfoot, a creature that holds a significant place in American folklore, as "The Great American Primate" will solidify this connection.

The case for Bigfoot's existence, while not universally accepted, is compelling. If this, in fact, a previously uncategorized primate, it would stand as one of the largest primates to ever exist. Standing between 7 and 10 feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds on average, compared with the silverback gorilla, which grows up to 5.6 feet and weighs around 400 pounds (Source: National Geographic), the size of the reputed creature warrants the title.

Further, naming Bigfoot "The Great American Primate" can foster more responsible and respectful treatment of the environments where sightings typically occur, like the Pacific Northwest.

Let's respect our heritage, folklore, and the potential scientific significance by naming Bigfoot "The Great American Primate". While we still strive to unravel the mysteries surrounding Bigfoot, acknowledging its cultural impact is an integral step. Show your support and sign this petition.
