As a passionate dog lover and owner, I am deeply concerned about the future of dog ownership and certain dog breeds in the United Kingdom.  Therefore, I am starting this petition to urge the Kennel Club within the UK to officially recognise and endorse the Cane Corso Italiano breed using the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) breed standard. 

The Cane Corso Italiano is a magnificent Italian mastiff breed known for its loyalty, intelligence, and protective nature. However, despite being recognized by various international kennel clubs such as FCI (and all member organisations), AKC (American Kennel Club), ENCI, SACC and ICCF, it is yet to receive recognition from the Kennel Club within our own country.

Recognising Cane Corso Italiano as an official breed would have several significant benefits for both dogs and owners in the UK. Firstly, it would ensure that responsible breeding practices are followed by establishing clear guidelines based on FCI standards and the Kennel Club endorsed breeder scheme. This recognition would discourage unethical breeding practices that often lead to health issues or behavioral problems in dogs. Secondly, official recognition would encourage responsible ownership by promoting awareness about proper care requirements specific to this breed. It would also facilitate access to accurate information regarding training techniques tailored specifically for Cane Corsos' unique characteristics.

Furthermore, recognising Cane Corso Italiano under Kennel Club's umbrella will enable better documentation of these dogs across our nation. This documentation will help track their lineage accurately while ensuring transparency in breeding programs and reducing instances of illegal activities such as puppy mills or backyard breeding. By recognising this remarkable breed through collaboration with international standards like FCI's established guidelines for responsible breeding practices and ownership requirements; we can preserve its heritage while promoting the well-being of Cane Corsos in the UK.
