The moment has come to rally for this recognition as a step towards peace, stability, and self-determination for the Kurdish people who have long been marginalized and besieged.

Rojava, situated in northern Syria, has been a beacon of hope, demonstrating a progressive model of self-governance based on democracy, feminism, and environmental sustainability since the Syrian Civil War began in 2011. It stands as a unique political experiment in the Middle East, where diverse ethnic and religious groups coexist peacefully under a shared administration. However, this region remains unrecognized by the significant global powers, leaving it vulnerable to threats, such as military aggression from neighboring states.

Recognition of Rojava by big powers could act as a protective shield, deterring those who wish to silence the Kurdish voice through force and violence. Moreover, this recognition should not only be seen as a diplomatic acknowledgment but also a moral stand against the ongoing human rights violations Kurdish communities face. According to the United Nations, over 400,000 people have been displaced due to aggressive actions targeting these areas, resulting in profound humanitarian crises affecting hundreds of thousands of civilians.
