Recognise the Official Musollah in Republic Polytechnic for Staff and Students

The Issue

Republic Polytechnic is home to thousands of students and staff from diverse religious backgrounds. Among them are many Muslims who include regular prayers (Salah) as a vital part of their daily routines. Having a dedicated, official space, or Musollah, for this purpose is essential. Currently, there is an unofficial Musollah in use, but without formal recognition, it can sometimes be difficult to access and fully utilize.

Recognizing this Musollah officially would provide both students and staff with the freedom to observe their religious practices comfortably. A 2019 survey by IPSOS found that 86% of Singaporeans support spaces for quiet reflection or prayer in educational institutions, highlighting the value Singapore places on religious harmony and respect for all beliefs.

This isn’t a call for special treatment—it's about creating a fair and inclusive space for all. Making the Musollah an official part of Republic Polytechnic would affirm each student and staff member’s right to religious expression and help foster a truly inclusive environment for everyone.

Join us in asking the administration to officially recognize the current Musollah as the designated prayer space for Muslim students and staff at Republic Polytechnic. Please sign this petition to support a more inclusive and respectful campus for all.
