Reclassify K-Pod and Etomidate Under the Misuse of Drugs Act

Reclassify K-Pod and Etomidate Under the Misuse of Drugs Act
The Issue
Protect Our Families: Reclassify K-Pod and Etomidate from the Poisons Act to the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA)
We, concerned citizens and residents of Singapore, urgently petition the Government to reclassify K-Pod and its active substance Etomidate from the Poisons Act to the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), due to its widespread misuse and serious harm caused to individuals, families, and communities.
🔍 Why This Matters:
- K-Pod is widely abused — It contains Etomidate, a powerful sedative meant for medical use but currently being misused recreationally in vape devices.
- No serious legal deterrent — Under the current Poisons Act, abusers often avoid meaningful consequences. This weakens Singapore’s zero-tolerance stance on substance abuse.
- Families are suffering — The mental instability, emotional trauma, and unpredictable aggression caused by K-Pod abuse are tearing families apart. Young children are being exposed to chaotic and unsafe environments.
- Action is urgent — Reclassifying Etomidate under the MDA will allow law enforcement to act earlier, enforce stronger penalties, and provide a clearer legal framework for rehabilitation and protection
📣 What We’re Asking:
- That K-Pod and Etomidate be officially listed as controlled substances under the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA).
- That proper regulations, enforcement, and rehabilitation support be introduced for abusers.
- That families and children affected by K-Pod abuse be better protected under the law, including support for caregivers.
🚨 Real Cases & Recent News:
- Injured man sits at pedestrian crossing, holding vape and shaking uncontrollably as passers-by help get him off road
- Girl, 13, among 3 probed for offences linked to ‘Kpod’ drug-laced vapes: HSA
- HSA investigating woman filmed vaping in train; anaesthetic found in vape pod at her home
- Man found dizzy after vaping on public bus
- Vape pods suspected to contain anaesthetic agent seized during raid
- ‘They look like zombies’: Teens here using ‘Kpods’ drug vaporisers; CNB, HSA monitoring situation
- 4 teens behaving strangely in Punggol suspected to have consumed 'zombie vapes'
💔 This is not just a youth trend — it is a threat to public health, mental stability, and family safety.
👩👦 A Personal Plea:
This substance tore my family apart.
My young sons — one of whom is a child with special needs — were deeply traumatized by the erratic and frightening behaviour caused by K-Pod abuse in our home.
I am not alone. Many families are silently suffering. The current laws are not enough to stop it.
📢 We Appeal To:
- Ministry of Health (MOH)
- Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)
- Health Sciences Authority (HSA)
- Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)
- Members of Parliament (MPs)
Please help protect our children and communities before more lives are damaged.
🖊️ Sign and share this petition if you believe Singapore deserves stronger drug policies that protect families and give addicts a real chance at recovery.
