Reclassify alcohol as a schedule 1 substance

The Issue

Two years ago, my wife broke free from the chains of alcohol addiction. Her journey to sobriety has been inspiring, yet it has also opened my eyes to the harrowing realities of alcohol abuse. Alcohol is not just a casual drink; for many, it becomes a relentless disease, devastating families and claiming lives.

In the United States, alcohol is often consumed without understanding its profound dangers. Each year, alcohol-related incidents result in hundreds of thousands of injuries and, tragically, countless deaths. Car accidents, fueled by this substance, have become alarmingly common, with alcohol being a factor in nearly 28% of all traffic fatalities. Beyond the immediate toll is the long-term damage it inflicts—destroying careers, tearing apart families, and creating trapped cycles of addiction.

Despite its widespread acceptance, alcohol presents very few benefits. Many argue its cultural and social roles, yet these perceived advantages pale in comparison to the havoc it wreaks on individuals and communities. Comparing alcohol legally to substances like marijuana, which have been scrutinized and scheduled, highlights an inconsistency. Marijuana, despite its known medical benefits, is often more harshly regulated than alcohol.

It is time for a change. We urge our lawmakers and public health officials to reclassify alcohol as a schedule 1 substance. Doing so would acknowledge the genuine threat it poses, aligning our laws with the harsh realities of its impact. By reclassifying and ultimately banning alcohol, we can better protect future generations from the pervasive dangers it presents.

Join this movement for change. Sign this petition to help protect our young children and generations to come from the destructive path of alcohol. With your support, we can bring awareness to this critical issue and drive legislative action to safeguard lives and cultivate healthier communities. Together, let's take a stand to prioritize health and safety over profit and tradition.
