Recall the Librela Drug for Dogs Produced by Zoetis
The Issue
I write this petition with a heavy heart, having recently lost my beloved 16-year-old dog due to severe side effects caused by the drug Librela, manufactured by Zoetis. After his fourth shot of Librela, he began to suffer from loss of back legs functionality, confusion, staring at the floor or wall, weight loss and inability to eat. He could not coordinate his mouth and experienced twitching, panting and drooling. The symptoms of twitching, panting, and drooling started after his first shot in October, but I failed to connect them with Librela until I researched it after he was put to sleep. The vet did not say there were any side effects, though I do not blame him.
Librela is marketed as a safe treatment for osteoarthritis pain in dogs but my experience tells a different story. My dog's health deteriorated rapidly after receiving this drug and he eventually had to be put down. Now he is in a wooden box on a shelf always near me.
I am not alone in my experience; there are other pet owners who have reported exact adverse reactions in their pets after administering Librela (source: Librela Experiences). This calls into question the safety profile of this drug. Some dogs do very well with this drug, many others do not, especially senior dogs.
We must ensure no more pets suffer like mine did. We call on Zoetis to recall their product until further investigations can be conducted into its safety profile and potential side effects are CLEARLY communicated to pet owners before administration.
Please sign this petition if you believe no pet should have their life cut short due to inadequately tested medication or lack of information about potential side effects.
