The people of Alberta deserve leadership that truly respects and values its educators and prioritizes the needs of the public.

As an Alberta resident, I am deeply troubled by Premier Danielle Smith's recent actions and policies, which showcase an authoritarian approach. Forcing teachers back to work and coercing them to accept a contract that neglects crucial factors such as teacher-to-student ratios is unjust and shows a lack of empathy and understanding for both educators and students alike.

Instead of focusing on what truly benefits Albertans, Premier Smith has chosen to prioritize superficial issues like license plates, diverting attention and resources away from what really matters: the well-being of our public services. Furthermore, the unnecessary rebranding of the Alberta Health Services Portal without any justifiable reason is a clear misallocation of resources.

Premier Smith’s policies have negatively impacted minimum wage earners, leaving the most vulnerable communities without the support they desperately need. The decision to underfund the public education sector while bolstering the private sector with taxpayer money is a direct attack on equal educational opportunities for all children.

Moreover, the implementation of discriminatory transgender rules violates the rights and dignity of individuals, contributing to a culture of exclusion rather than inclusion.

It is evident that Premier Danielle Smith's leadership does not align with the core values of fairness, inclusivity, and justice. We deserve a leader who prioritizes the real issues facing Albertans and takes decisive action to support the public sector, including proper funding for education and healthcare.
