Recall Meg Booth from Maple Valley Township treasurer role

Recall Meg Booth from Maple Valley Township treasurer role
The Issue
In a small community like Maple Valley Township, trust in our public officials isn’t just important—it’s everything. That trust has been broken.
Treasurer Meghyn Booth continues to serve in office even after it was revealed that her husband, Chris Booth, is a neo-Nazi content creator who has publicly posted violent, antisemitic, and racist videos under the alias “Shameless Sperg.” These are not ambiguous or borderline remarks—they include open hatred toward Jewish people, Black Americans, and LGBTQ+ individuals. When community members raised concerns about feeling threatened, Booth offered vague denials and refused to fully denounce the hate speech.
It is not her husband’s views alone that warrant a response—it’s her response to them. Booth’s refusal to clearly condemn his rhetoric, combined with reports that she shared details from a community forum with him that he later used to publicly attack residents, has made many in our township feel unsafe and unheard. Civic participation is chilling in the face of retaliation. People are afraid to speak at public meetings or raise questions without fearing backlash.
We cannot normalize proximity to hate by pretending this is just a “difference of opinion.” It is not. This is about whether someone who refuses to publicly reject fascist, white supremacist rhetoric can continue to represent the people of this community with fairness and integrity.
A recall effort is already underway, but we need to make our voices heard now. We, the undersigned, call on Meghyn Booth to step down as Maple Valley Township Treasurer. If she does not, we pledge to support all legal and democratic efforts to remove her from office through the recall process.
Our community deserves better. Our children deserve to grow up in a township that doesn’t shrug off hate as just another viewpoint.
Sign to support the recall of Meghyn Booth.
