Recall IFC Ironwood State Prison California

The Issue

**Petition to Disband the Current IFC (Inmate Family Council)**

To Whom It May Concern,

We, the undersigned, hereby petition for the disbandment of the current Inmate Family Council (IFC) at ISP due to a vote of no confidence in their ability to effectively represent the interests and concerns of the loved ones of residents at ISP. This decision is based on the following grievances:

1. **Failure to Adhere to Bylaws**:
    - The IFC has consistently failed to adhere to its own bylaws regarding the scheduling and conduct of meetings, membership procedures, and the seating of new members.

2. **Lack of Responsiveness**:
    - The IFC has been unresponsive to numerous questions and concerns raised by the loved ones of residents. There has been a notable lack of follow-up on information they claim to be in the process of obtaining.

3. **Provision of Incomplete or Incorrect Information**:
    - There have been numerous instances where the IFC has provided partial or inaccurate information in response to pointed questions regarding processes and procedures.

4. **Failure to Represent Concerns**:
    - The IFC has repeatedly failed to bring forth all questions and concerns submitted by loved ones, particularly those regarding the family visit units.

5. **Improper Solicitation of Funds**:
    - The IFC has frequently asked for monetary donations for items and services that should be provided by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). There has been no transparent accounting of how these donated funds are distributed.

6.**Security and Safety Breach**:
--The most egregious issue is the recent action by the IFC Chair, who compromised the security and safety of CDCR staff by allowing a post with the name of a guard who was assaulted on a yard to be published on the IFC Facebook page. This information was subsequently distributed to thousands of people across various groups in the state, endangering staff and undermining trust in the council.

Given these issues, we believe that the current IFC no longer represents the greater group of loved ones of residents at ISP. Therefore, we request the disbandment of the current council and the establishment of a new board that will operate in accordance with the bylaws and truly represent our interests.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a resolution that ensures the proper representation and support for the families and loved ones of residents of ISP.
