Recall Defective Units of Mahindra XUV700 – A Risky SUV Putting Lives at Risk.
The Issue
"Promised a DREAM — Delivered a NIGHTMARE"
Exploitation Has No Face: We usually think of exploitation as something tied to poverty. But if you zoom out, you’ll see a darker, deeper truth: India’s middle class is silently exploited every day — especially as consumers.
You work hard, save for years, and finally buy something that promises peace of mind — like a car marketed with claims of “world-class safety.”
- But what if that very car turns out to be defective?
- What if the defect causes an accident?
- What if the company not only evades accountability — but also challenges you for speaking up?
That’s exactly what happened to me.
I’m Inaamulhaq, an actor by profession.
In February 2022, impressed by Mahindra’s advertising, I booked the top-end XUV700 AX7 L. After waiting over a year, I finally received it in March 2023 — but within days, life-threatening problems began to appear
• The infotainment system crashed while driving
• Navigation, camera, and ADAS features failed
• False alarms, sudden braking, poor build quality
• Internet/GPS failures — making the car unsafe
One of these malfunctions even led to an accident — and it could have been fatal.
Despite repeated service visits and attempted software updates, no permanent fix was provided. My car has remained at Mahindra’s workshop since October 2024
No solution. No accountability.
When I refused to stay silent, I was met with arrogance and denial. At one point, I was even told, “You can’t do anything legally. Try if you want.”
So I did.
After two years of patience, humiliation, and emotional distress, I filed a consumer case with the Mumbai (Suburban) Consumer Forum. (Case No — DC/483/CC/205/2025 — next hearing: October 2025.)
But this is not just about me.
Hundreds of XUV700 owners have reported similar issues. The internet is full of complaints — yet Mahindra continues to sell the vehicle, while many customers are left dealing with unresolved issues and a disappointing post-sale attitude
If this is how they treat someone in the public domain like me, imagine what the regular consumer goes through
This is not just about a faulty car.
It’s about public safety — and about holding powerful corporations accountable for their negligence.
That’s why there is an urgent need for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding:
- Nationwide Recall and Repair of all defective XUV700 units
- Permanent fixes, accountability, and transparency
- Action against misleading advertising and systemic neglect
My individual case — I’ve fought this alone for 2 years and I will continue to fight in consumer court.
But in the larger public interest, collective action is essential — your support means a lot, before someone else gets hurt.
