We, the residents of San Leandro (and allies) call for the immediate recall of Councilmember Bryan Azevedo. His federal charges and refusal to resign have undermined public trust, distracted from urgent civic priorities, and jeopardized our city’s reputation and future investments.  

San Leandro deserves leadership rooted in integrity, transparency, and public service—not scandal and self‑interest.  

Councilmember Bryan Azevedo is facing federal charges for conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud and making false statements to federal investigators. While he has entered a not guilty plea, the facts revealed and the perception of misconduct have fractured public confidence and cast a shadow over our city’s governance.  

This crisis affects us all:  

🏗️ Our ability to pass a critical bond measure for infrastructure investment is at risk  

🚓 Our public safety partnerships and emergency preparedness are compromised  

🏢 Our business climate and civic reputation are suffering  

🌉 Our regional voice on boards and commissions is diminished  

This is not the first time Azevedo has shown disregard for the community. During my own campaign, he was caught on tape removing my signs from a supporter’s yard. That act wasn’t just against me—it was against the residents who chose to express their voice. It symbolized a willingness to silence others rather than engage in fair debate.  

We call for:  

- A formal recall of Councilmember Azevedo  

- A vote of no confidence from the San Leandro City Council  

- Immediate Council action to suspend or reassign all city responsibilities held by Azevedo until this matter is resolved  

This is not a private matter—it is a matter of urgent public concern. District 2 and all of San Leandro deserve leadership that earns our trust, not defends its position.  

This petition is not about political gain. I do not seek, nor will I accept, any appointment to the District 2 Council seat. This is about accountability, civic pride, and restoring the integrity of our city.
