Vote Tuesday, Aug 18: Stop Overdevelopment & Hold Danielle Cohen Higgins Accountable

Neighbors and South Dade Advocates,
Our community’s petition sent a clear message, but this Tuesday, August 18th is when we turn our signatures into actual votes.
When Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins ran for office, she promised to protect our farmland and keep local communities safe from reckless sprawl. Instead, she turned her back on us—voting IN FAVOR of the Bluenest development project, paving over 90 acres of irreplaceable Redland agricultural land for 700 townhomes despite overwhelming public outcry from residents and local farmers.
Why We Must Vote This Tuesday:
Stop Overdevelopment & Sprawl: The Bluenest project sets a dangerous precedent for developers to destroy protected farmland, clog narrow two-lane roads (like 272nd and 264th Streets), and strain our local emergency services and schools.
Hold Leaders Accountable: Commissioner Cohen Higgins voted directly against what our petition stands for and ignored thousands of South Dade constituents. Election Day is our opportunity to hold her accountable at the ballot box.
Protect the Redland’s Legacy: Our agricultural heritage and local food supply cannot be replaced once paved over.
Election Day Voting Information:
Date & Time: Tuesday, August 18th | Polls open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Where to Vote: You must vote at your assigned precinct on Election Day. Look up your precinct at VoteMiamiDade.gov.
What to Bring: A valid government-issued photo ID with a signature (driver’s license, passport, etc.).
If you still have a Mail-in Ballot, do NOT mail it at this point—drop it off directly at an official Supervisor of Elections drop box before 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
Please share this message with your neighbors, family, and friends in District 8. Let’s turn out at the polls to protect the Redland and demand representation that actually listens to us!
