The Issue

When I was young, my family and I cherished unforgettable nights at the 112 Drive-In Movie Theater in Fayetteville. It was a beloved spot for many growing up in North West Arkansas, a place where laughter and cinematic adventures came to life against the backdrop of a starlit sky. In 2022, that cherished piece of our community's cultural fabric was torn away when the theater closed down. Like countless others, I was left with a void in my heart and a longing for those magical experiences.

A drive-in movie theater is not just a place to watch films; it's a gathering ground for families, friends, and neighbors. It's a space where we forge connections, share stories, and create lasting memories. Springdale deserves this vibrant community hub—a place where the old magic of the drive-in can shine once more.

Currently, Springdale and surrounding areas lack such a space, which means residents have to travel long distances to enjoy this timeless form of entertainment. By building a drive-in movie theater, we would not only revive a nostalgic pastime but also provide an accessible and cherished venue for gatherings, family outings, and unique date nights. Moreover, it would stimulate local economic growth, creating jobs and attracting visitors to the region.

Drive-in theaters offer a safe and enjoyable environment for all ages. They allow us to continue enjoying movies under the open sky, adhering to social distancing measures and offering a fresh breath of nostalgia and charm.

Funding could be sourced through partnerships with local businesses, community fundraising events, and grants.

Let us come together to rebuild a place where community spirit thrives and where future generations can form their own fond memories beneath the stars. Sign this petition to express your support for reestablishing a drive-in movie theater in Springdale, a project that honors our past and enriches our future.
