Together, we’ve pushed this campaign to rebuild Hotspur Press in its original form into the spotlight — it’s already been featured in BBC News and the Manchester Evening News!

People are paying attention — and it’s because we’ve raised our voices, together.

But we’re not done yet.

Developers are already circling, and unless we act now, we risk losing this iconic piece of Manchester’s heritage to yet another soulless block of flats. Let’s not let the greedy win.

Here’s What’s Happened Since the Fire:

The fire caused significant damage, but the façade may still be salvageable

The fire tore through the building on June 23rd, destroying large parts of the roof and upper floors. However, emergency services have indicated that some of the original structure — including the iconic façade — may still be preserved, pending further assessment.

Developer voices heartbreak… yawn

The developers who had planned a student flat conversion of the site have issued a statement saying they are “truly heartbroken” by the fire. They say they are committed to cooperating with all necessary processes as the future of the site is considered.

Investigation and structural evaluation in progress

Specialist teams are now working to make the site safe so that internal inspections can begin. Unsafe parts of the building will be carefully demolished where necessary to allow full structural evaluation — including whether the original façade can be saved and restored.

Now is the time to push harder than ever.

👉 Please share the petition with your friends, family, neighbours — anyone who cares about Manchester’s history and future.

Let’s show the council and developers that we won’t settle for anything less than a full and faithful restoration.

Together, we’re keeping the pressure on. Let’s keep pushing, keep sharing, and make sure Hotspur Press gets the future it deserves.
