Rebuild Canada's Defense Industry: Invest in Domestic Military Production to Strengthen National Security and Economic Stability

To the House of Commons in Parliament Assembled:

We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to take immediate action to protect national security, strengthen economic resilience, and create high-quality Canadian jobs by investing in domestic military production.

WHEREAS:

1. Canada's military is critically underfunded and over-reliant on foreign suppliers:

-The Canadian Armed Forces lack modernized equipment, relying heavily on foreign-built tanks, warships, aircraft, and armored vehicles.

-Dependence on foreign suppliers and international defense contracts leaves Canada vulnerable to supply chain disruptions and geopolitical risks.

-Canada fails to meet NATO's 2% GDP military spending target, weakening its strategic position among allies.

2. Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum threaten Canada's economy and jobs:

-The U.S. government has imposed new tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, threatening thousands of jobs in these critical industries.

-Canada has the resources and expertise to manufacture military equipment domestically, reducing reliance on foreign steel, aluminum, and defense imports.

-Investing in Canadian-made military production will support domestic industries, protect jobs, and counter the economic impact of U.S. trade barriers.

3. A strong domestic defense industry will create jobs and boost Canada’s economy:

-Establishing domestic production of tanks, warships, fighter jets, and armored vehicles will create thousands of stable, high-paying jobs for Canadians.

-Strengthening Canadian defense manufacturing will reduce reliance on foreign purchases and keep taxpayer dollars within the Canadian economy.

-Expanding the Canadian Armed Forces will increase recruitment, improve military readiness, and create new employment opportunities.

THEREFORE, WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, DEMAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA:

1. Launch a national strategy to manufacture military equipment in Canada:

-Build Canadian-made tanks, warships, fighter jets, drones, and armored vehicles.

-Invest in Canadian steel, aluminum, and defense manufacturing, ensuring national self-sufficiency.

2. Expand military recruitment and defense funding:

-Increase enlistment and provide better wages to strengthen the Canadian Armed Forces.

-Equip our military with modern, high-tech, Canadian-built defense systems.

3. Use military investment to protect jobs and counter U.S. trade tariffs:

-Support Canadian steel and aluminum industries by prioritizing domestic materials in defense production.

-Ensure that Canadian tax dollars fund Canadian workers, industries, and defense projects, rather than relying on foreign-built equipment.

CALL TO ACTION

We urge Parliament to take immediate action to protect Canada's economic stability, national security, and industrial workforce by prioritizing Canadian military production and domestic job creation.
