Plans are well advanced to install salmon farms along the shores of Tasmania's pristine East Coast. Beginning at Okehampton Bay, (in the left of this photo) .The scheme was rejected by more than 90% of the residents of the Spring Bay Glamorgan Council area in a recent survey. And likewise at a rowdy public meeting whereby all, (250+) less four attendees, rejected the proposal.

They rightly believe it will cost jobs in tourism, in the traditional fishing activities and will negatively impact on the beauty of the adjacent Maria Island National Park and its tourism potential.

It has no social licence from the affected residents.

A salmon farm is currently being established at Port Arthur.
